TBD Race Calendar: August 2019

Friends, this is it. The last gasp of road season. It feels like so long ago that we kicked things off at the CRCA Grant’s Tomb Criterium in early March but after a long, hard, and hopefully successful season there are just a few weeks left before road starts winding down (with a few exceptions). And so without any further ado, a look at some of the big races featured on the TBD Race Calendar in August:

• The first weekend has come and gone with plenty of great racing action - for our part we sent squads to both Millersburg and Radsport with the latter crew scoring a number of very nice results including Scott’s podium in the Hill Climb.

• With the first weekend of the month in the books, the week of Monday August 5th sees the final Floyd Bennett Field race of the season. After all of the permitting struggles from earlier this year we sincerely hope this is not the final race at FBF, but if you want one last shot at racing on an abandoned airfield we suggest you don’t miss this race. A couple of days later the weekend race calendar features Tokeneke for the road racers, Trumansburg (the NYS Championships) for the crit races who don’t mind a bit of a drive, and local races in Prospect Park and Randall’s Island.

• For weekend three, August 17th and 18th, we’ll be sending a squad up to the almost always enjoyable D2R2 but there are also local options on tap on Saturday in both Central Park (CRCA) and Prospect Park (Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup) while Sunday heads back to Kissena.

• August 24-25 features yet another CRCA race (the Parks Department really packed the August race calendar) in addition to Vermont Overland on Sunday for those more gravel inclined.

• Last but not least, the month winds down on Labor Day weekend with the last CRCA Club Series event of 2019 as well as the first big cross race weekend of the upcoming season with Virginia’s Go Cross event. For the roadies there is also Green Mountain Stage Race where a few of the TBDers will be closing out their road season.
